IB History Extended Essay Topics

IB History Extended Essay TopicsThe three main topics in a college or university humanities course or thesis are essay, research and presentation. Students must be able to choose the proper essay topic for each, as the essay's purpose is to present their research in a clear and concise manner, while the research is to supply the data that supports their essay. A thesis statement is the culmination of all these components.College essay topics can be diverse, ranging from political commentary, cultural analysis and legal interpretations. The term 'extended essay' is actually used to denote essays that have been written over many pages or even years. Extended essay topics can fall into the category of research essay topics, broad area studies, investigative, clinical, critical, developmental, educational, literature, social, political, legal and technical papers. When writing a research paper, IB history students will likely have an array of options to choose from. Historical eras they m ay look at as a basis for their research include colonial times, the Civil War, the antebellum period, the Revolutionary War, World War II, the Civil Rights movement, and the Vietnam War. They may choose to take a course in Africa, the American West, the nineteenth century and beyond.Colleges and universities maintain a wide range of supporting documents. Students will probably need to access theses, dissertations, articles, book chapters, curricula vitae and more for their writing. Also, for many courses, IB history students will use bibliographies, index cards, paper folders, microfiche, reference libraries, super-microfiche, encyclopedias, eBooks, databases, software and theses as well as dissertations. Theses and dissertations are often bound into a bibliography, which is a list of works they've used, and other supporting sources, in order to determine their source of information.A college or university that focuses on world history, especially the last two centuries, will likel y consider Asian studies courses, Latin American history, Asian studies, Africa, United States, Latin America, European history, U.S. East, World War II, African American history, feminist history, environmental history, literature, sociology, political science, modern Middle East, U.S. Cold War and the studies of present-day environmental issues. Other materials that would be considered for inclusion in the syllabus are theses, dissertations, publications, curricula vitae, and theses and dissertations. Thus, many syllabi and syllabus listings on universities' websites also include all the material that the IB student should study.Past research papers and dissertations will generally give students some guidance when preparing their IB history projects. Theirses should include methods, questions, findings, results, evidence, writing style, sources, and these structure. Dissertations and theses can provide useful knowledge, which is required for the assignment, but will not necessaril y be accepted. Many of theses and dissertations require revisions throughout the course of a research paper. Students can use these as a guide and continue to develop the research and writing styles. Theses are also helpful in deciding what types of resources they need and which to use. There are different areas where students should spend their time. Most faculty will guide the student in the right direction and look to assign the appropriate IB history project for their course. Thesis and dissertations are often independent and require independent assessment.
